Question by : Hi guys, just wondering if I can get some opinions on rotary engines and Mazda 808s?
First of all, I’m a massive fan of drifting and I was wondering if rotary engines are any good for drifting as well as if Mazda 808s are any good for drifting also? I got this Mazda 808 free about 3 years ago and its pretty special to me because it was given to me by my best friend when he died and I’m planning on moving to Japan in about 3 years and I was wondering if its worth me keeping and about the drifting aspects of the engine and car.

Rotarys are great for drifting I use to drift mine all the time. They work really good in the higher RPM’s. They are highly misunderstood engines and can be temperamental from time to time. Now on to the 808 I honestly don’t know much about that body style and how well they drift due to not knowing the type of rear suspension set up they have (I.E. Shocks/Struts or Leaf Springs) Yor would want to check out AusRotary.com cause I know they deal with alot of Old school Rotary cars, you can also hit up nopistions.com and RX7Club.com my name is DeMoe Aurelius on that Forum. You’ll learn alot from that site and can even find parts that you may need…

Question by X36: How can I contact Mazda Motors in Japan?
I have a great idea that I want to share with Mazda. How can I contact them directly in Japan? I would like to talk with someone that’s interested in development.
Or they would just not care about me or my idea and I’ll keep my idea just to me…?

Question by en tu cabeza: I am looking at buying a new car. I have looked at the Mazda 5 and the Pontiac Vibe. What do you think?
One factor might be distance. I live about 4 miles from a Pontiac dealer and about an hour drive away from a Mazda dealer. The cars seem to be about the same price when all is said and done. The Pontiac gets better gas mileage, but the Mazda is bigger.

Go with the Mazda. I just got rid of my Pontiac Grand Prix… too many little problems. I have learned that Japanese cars are just superior to American made. Also, my sister has a Vibe and she is experiencing the same little glitches. If you go to www.edmunds.com you can do a side by side comparison of both vehicles and read editor’s reviews.

Question by dlguggs: since day 1 my mazda cx-7 awd (crossover vehicle) has pulled to the left. How do I correct this?
Pulling to the left is against the crown of most roads so THAT is not an issue. I bought this car new
in 2007. I had the tires rotated a couple of times, an alignment, no improvement. I put new tires on it and went thru the same routine with them and still no improvement. The Mazda people were no help so since my warranty has run out I’d could use some advise as to what other possible causes there might be.

check for old or worn out rubber gromets on all steering and suspension… probably one worn out under there…. jack it up and tug on the tie rods, sway bar, etc…. youll know if you have a lose or worn out one…

Question by j: Why does my 2004 Mazda stereo/CD player keep recycling itself?
My 2004 Mazda 3 stereo/CD player keeps recycling itself, even after the car is turned off. I can no longer use the CD player but can use the radio. This happened with the cars’ original player and the replacement player I had installed same model.

Question by bluescape420: How to change brake pads on a 2003 mazda 6?
I just recently bought a 2003 Mazda 6 with 25,000 mile on it. I notice that there is a slight sqeeke when I break and would like to change the pads now before they wear the rotor. I first thought about going to the shop but the idea of spending $ 150.00 per axal is appalling (especial when you consider that a set of pads for the front and another for the back only cost a total of $ 40.00). I also own a 1997 Mazda 626 and have done the front brakes on it a number of times. What I needed to know is is there any difference between changing the brakes on the old one versus the new one. Are there any special tools I need? Are there any free online resources for repair and maintanance? I tried to find a Chiltons or a Haynes at my local auto store but they don’t have one for a Mazda 6. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also I plan on doing the brakes today so that I may take a road trip this weekend. Thanks

No, brake pads technology hasn’t changed. You could probably follow the same procedures you did on you 1997.
The only special tools are what it takes to remove the calipers. Some use Torques, other allen, I prefer just the regular bolts but you’ll have to take the wheel off to see what was used.
Yeah, the Mazda 6 is too new to see anything on line too. (sorry)
Autozone has put out a great set of manuals for all older vehicles that you can get online now.
(ie for your 97 Mazda)

However like I said most brake systems haven’t changed much and replacement has been done in the same fashion.
